  • Why do I need my house washed?

Regular house washing is essential for maintaining your property's aesthetic appeal and protecting its structural integrity. Accumulated mold, mildew, algae, and other contaminants can lead to premature paint deterioration and permanent staining on siding, concrete, and gutters. House washing is a cost-effective method to enhance your home's appearance, even for brick and stucco exteriors. Additionally, it promotes better health by preventing the spread of mold and mildew, which can cause respiratory issues and allergies if left unchecked.
  • Isn't mold a health problem?

Indeed, mold and mildew growth around your home can create unhealthy conditions, particularly for individuals with allergies and asthma. Our cleaning methods effectively remove mold from siding, trim, and concrete surfaces. It's especially important to clean areas where children play, such as driveways or walkways, to prevent contact with potentially harmful mold spores.
  • Do you supply the water for homes with wells?

Certainly. Time To Shine Power Washing is equipped with a fresh water tank system to supply water when necessary. While we typically utilize the customer's water supply for residential pressure washing jobs, we can bring water on-site if required.
  • Will the cleaning harm my plants?

Our cleaning process is completely safe for plants, people, and pets when properly executed. We employ an exclusive power wash cleaning method that utilizes ultra-safe, self-neutralizing cleaning and rinsing agents, ensuring no harm comes to your landscaping.
  • Can you wash a house or deck in the rain?

Yes, we can perform house or deck washing in rainy conditions. Since the cleaning process involves wetting the surfaces anyway, rain doesn't significantly impact our work. However, we will reschedule if there are safety concerns, such as the presence of lightning.
  • Do I have to be home on the day of service?

Your presence is not required during the cleaning service. Time To Shine Power Washing offers convenient scheduling that allows us to work while you're away. If you plan to be absent, please ensure all windows are closed, the driveway is clear, and any fragile decorations on your home and deck are removed or secured.
  • Can you remove oil stains on concrete from my garage or driveway that have been there for years?

Yes, we can address long-standing oil stains on concrete surfaces. Our process involves using specialized chemicals and detergents that penetrate the concrete to break down embedded oils. While some stains may be completely eliminated, others might leave a faint gray mark. Regardless, the overall appearance of your concrete will be significantly improved after our cleaning and restoration process.
  • There are small very dark raised spots on my siding in places. What is this and can you remove them?

The dark, raised spots on your siding are likely artillery fungus spores, originating from a mushroom that grows in decomposed mulch, bark, or wood chips. These fungi project spores into the air, which can adhere to siding. While power washing may help, complete removal is challenging. The spots typically fade over time. Prevention is key; consider replacing organic mulch near your home with non-organic alternatives like decorative stone or rubber mulch products. If the problem persists, replacing affected siding may be necessary.
  • How often should I get my house washed?

We recommend having your house washed every two to three years. However, lighter-colored siding in shaded areas may benefit from annual cleaning to maintain its appearance and prevent the buildup of mold and mildew.
  • What are the black lines on my gutters? Can they be removed?

The black lines you see on your gutters are not dirt! They are caused by certain materials from your composite roofing shingles that become "electrostatically" bonded to the surface of your rain gutters. The bond is so strong that it cannot be completely removed with just soap and water.

Don't be deceived—those black streaks are harder to remove than you might think. Many homeowners try to clean them but are unsuccessful. However, we can make your gutters look new again.

We wash from the foundation to the gutters and everything in between. Depending on how long it’s been since the house or building was last washed and what contaminants are present, we may need to detail certain areas to ensure they are thoroughly cleaned. In most cases, runoff from roof tiles, oxidation (the black streaks), exhaust, and road film cannot be removed with power washing alone.

The black streaks are attached to the gutters electrostatically. The negatively charged ions from roof runoff stick to the positively charged ions on the gutters, creating the stubborn, irregular lines. This process is called oxidation. These stains cannot be removed by power washing alone; removal requires hand scrubbing and detailing to break the electrostatic bond.

Yes, some contaminants on the gutters may include dirt, mold, bird droppings, and algae, but the majority of the black streaks (often referred to as "tiger stripes") are caused by rain running over the asphalt shingles and dripping down the side of the gutter.

The black streaks and dots are the result of electrostatic bonding between tar and asphalt runoff from roofing materials and other contaminants that attach to aluminum materials such as gutters, downspouts, and capping. These stains may seem impervious to power washing, but they can be removed with special chemicals and detailed procedures.

  • My contractor said my siding and deck are zero maintenance. Is this true?

Low maintenance, yes. Zero maintenance, no. Anything left outside in the sun and humidity will get dirty. Like everything in life, it will need to be cleaned. Treat your house like your car and give it a bath.

  • What methods of payment are accepted?

We accept payments via cash, check, credit card, or secure online payment. You may mail a check along with your invoice to Time To Shine Power Washing & Window Cleaning, or pay by cash or check upon completion of service.

  • Why should I pay you for something I could do myself?

Great question! Washing may seem like an easy task at first, but once you begin, it becomes a completely different story. There are many factors to consider: What kind of surface do I need to wash? Do I need chemicals to get it clean? How will I reach the top? What if I use too much pressure? How much time do I really want to spend on this?

Washing your car is already a big task, let alone washing your house. Our state-of-the-art equipment and industrial-strength chemicals allow us to wash houses professionally without the risk of damage, ensuring 100% satisfaction. When you factor in the cost of equipment rental, inadequate chemicals, and the time and labor involved, it’s often more cost-effective to hire a professional.
